Archiving thunderbird email6/4/2023 If you have set up additional identities for an email account, the archiving location and folder structure can be configured separately for each identity. Browse to the folder containing your MBOX file and click Select Folder. Under Message Storage, click the Browse button to the right of Local Directory. On the Account Settings screen, click Local Folders. To get started, click menu > Account Settings. Messages can only be archived manually, not automatically. This makes it easy to organize archives or move them to a backup device, and keep the Inbox clean. Then you can choose if you want to use a single folder for all your archives, or define some sub-folders, as indicated in the animation below: You can now have Thunderbird open and display the contents of your MBOX file. Thunderbird provides the ability to archive messages - that is, to move them from the default folders to archive folders without deleting the messages altogether. You can define the structure of the archive folder by clicking the Archive options. In the Message Archives section, use the settings in Keep message archives in to set the desired location. In Tools Edit > Account Settings, select the desired email account in the left panel, and then select the Copies & Folders setting. Email archiving is the process of removing emails from your inbox to be stored in a separate yet easily accessible location. Initialize Thunderbird Archive export process & analyze it. Now, click the Next button to start the Thunderbird Archive export process. Setup all the required options for the conversion. Now, choose the MBOX option from the list of saving options. The location of archived messages can be configured individually for each email account. Configure archive location It is recommended that you not select more than 2,000 messages at a time. To archive one or more messages, select the desired messages and then click on the Archive button, or simply press A on your keyboard. Archived messages are indexed by Thunderbird's search. This makes it easy to organize archives or move them to a backup device, and keep the Inbox clean.
